Very big and rich. Huge depth and intensity of rich sweet earthy black cherry fruit with a sweet soy, leather and marmite behind. Full bodied. Very long and complex. Drink now, suspect it will gradually go down from here.

Awesome wine in great shape. Dark black fruits, secondary and tertiary stuff going on, tannin still going, medium+ finish. Cool to pair with Tig ‘12 at Hawksmoor in NYC.

[Tasted Double Blind] This pours medium to light ruby in the glass with light bricking at the rim. The nose shows blackberry, black plum, tar, charcoal, charred wood, violet, and alcohol. The palate enters on the dark fruit via blackberry and black plum. The tannin is medium plus and comes across quite angular, bitter and blocky. Acid is medium. The finish is clipped by the tannin, though a floral hint offers a little enjoyment. In the end I guessed a modern leaning left bank Bordeaux from 2000. Got the vintage right at least. On reveal I was quite surprised at how Cabernet driven this came across, considering its only 20%. The oak is quite dominant and overall this is a little more pushed than I prefer.

StanJ enjoyed this wine. Very smooth and easy to drink. Remarkably almost no sign of age after nearly 25 years. Nice lingering finish with cherry, plum and toasted notes. Cellared from release and still has years to enjoy.

Opens with heaps of herbs, spices, pepper, and tinge of sweetness. The old leathery whiff is obvious from the onset of a 24 year old bottle, but it soon disappeared, leaving a complex heap of ripened berries and earthy notes.
The full body opulent’, crimson red fluid dances in my glass tempting me. I am patient and let it breathe in my decanter for another hour before attempting to give it a go.

It did not disappoint indeed. The mouth-watering undertone is so obvious that I need to deliberately stop salivating. The nose continues to be intense, and the finish seems forever. Tigs are not to be drank young, and this bottle has legs to last many more years. The only problem is that my patience wear thin quicker than I thought.

A vintage that redeemed my previous experiences with Tig, after all these faulty bottles, finally an enjoyable Tig. Made from same blend launched since 1982 – 80% Sangiovese, 15% CS and 5% CF. Medium+ garnet colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, cloves, earth, tobacco, cranberries, tar, leather, hint of cured meat. Medium+ body, concentrated, rich and complex with elegant structure, smoky, earthy and delicately meaty fruit flavours, high well integrated acidity, medium tannins.
