Vintage notes: “Early spring weather was superb, but cold and wet from May to September. Rain fell virtually every day until the 2nd of October. Botrytis encountered enormous difficulty in concentrating the grapes, and the harvest was considerably delayed. Three weeks of calm weather nevertheless made for a wonderful crop with very high potential alcohol even though gapes picked in November were somewhat diluted. The 1963 vintage was very complicated and called for extremely rigorous sorting of grapes and selection of wines to retain.”
- As noted earlier this wine is now getting excellent reviews!!!

1963 Yquem was made in a very difficult year but as so often with Yquems it has aged extraordinarily well and now earns high reviews from the critics that it did not start out with!! Amazing wine.
